Remember The Now, CAS Tuesday on Wednesday

Clean & Simple Tuesday

Hello there! I hope that you are enjoying your day so far. Welcome back to my Clean and Simple Tuesday series here at Cindy B Designs. I’m also going to enter this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where anything goes this week – my favorite kind of challenge.

I had stamped, distressed and fussy cut a sand dollar from Tim Holtz/Stamper’s Anonymous Nautical Blueprints several weeks ago and it’s just been sitting around. I saw a card that Kay Miller made and it inspired me to use my image.

I took a piece of Tim Holtz/Ranger watercolor paper, die-cut it with MFT Stamps Blueprints 1 and scribbled back and forth in sweeping motions a Tattered Rose Distress Marker directly onto dry paper. I filled a Faber-Castell cup of water and used a Ranger medium-sized flat head wet paint brush to soften up my color using the same sweeping motion. I let it dry without speeding up the process. Next, I decided to step it up a little bit and use the exact process with a Dried Marigold Distress Marker.

When the image panel was completely dry, I inserted it into my Mini MISTI and covered the bottom of the panel with my EK Success Powder Tool. I stamped my sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stamper’s Anonymous Handwritten Thoughts with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, sprinkled some clear embossing powder over the sentiment, heat set it and then set it aside.

I took a clear acrylic block and smushed Black Soot Distress Ink onto the block, sprayed water onto the ink with my Ranger Inkssentials Mister, used my smallest paint brush to mix it up and brushed off the black ink onto my image panel making tiny black splatters. Once again, I let the in splatters dry on their own. The smaller the paint brush is, the smaller your splatters will be.

I added Scotch Foan Tape to the back of the sand dollar and adhered to the image panel. I know I have a pack of tiny real seashells around, but could not find it. However, I did find some crushed seashells and adhered them to my image panel as embellishments. I thought that was a unique touch. I used a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to color in the sand dollar image.

I then cut a piece of white fun foam with MFT Stamps Blueprints 2 and adhered it to the back of my image panel, which was then adhered to a side-folding A2 Smooth White card stock base by MFT Stamps.

There’s a lot of great texture and elements on this card. I was pleasantly surprised how well Tattered Rose and Dried Marigold played together as you can clearly see both colors. My black ink spatters turned out perfectly and this was the first time I had used that technique. I have a fabulous sentiment that is raised via heat embossing with vibrant black ink, but I think my crushed seashells steal the show. You normally do not see real shells on cards. I’m glad I remembered I had the crushed seashells as it’s a nice change from the usual sequins on everything.

I hope that you like my card today and thank you so very much for stopping by to visit me. Have a great day and God bless.
