Sea Life + Fishbowl Die-Namics Shaker Card

Hello and Happy World Cardmaking Day!

I’ve had this partially completed card sitting on a shelf for months. I decided to finish it up this morning and free up some space. A friend sent me a few packs of Little Things from Lucy’s Cards sequins and I’m so in love with this brand. I’m not a super big sequin person in that I don’t have to put them on every single thing I make, but Lucy’s packs are filled with sequins, seed beads and all sorts of other little elements that you wouldn’t expect of different shapes and sizes and colors. They are awesome. I used Sea Spray and Cool Breeze to fill up today’s shaker card.

There are a few different coordinating products by MFT Stamps in their Sea Life collection that I used on this card. There is a You’re Fintastic sentiment stamp set, coordinating Die-namics with the Sea Life stamp set and then stand-alone Fishbowl Die-namics that you can use to die-cut even more images that can be used with these fun products. I had originally planned to make a window card, but then got my sequins and decided to make a shaker card.

I will admit at the top of the fishbowl towards the sentiment with the teeny little lines made this a bit challenging not to get glue oozing out all over the place, perfectly placed, and a piece of fun foam was also cut and acetate to hold in my sequins. I had the alcohol wipes handy. It eventually came together and I’m pretty happy with the results.

I had a ton of ink pads out too as I used the Rock ‘n Roll technique on the stamped images. All of the images are covered with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. I should have used the Spectrum Noir pen as it really puts out some undeniable shine that would have shown up much better in my pictures. My seaweed was cut from the Fishbowl Die-namics too. The rest of the images were stamped with the Seal Life stamp set and coordinating Die-namics.

I started out with a 8-1/2 x 11 Smooth White card stock base, cut at 4-1/2, turned and scored at 5-1/2 for a top folding A2 card. I die-cut a piece of Birthday Blowout 6 x 6 Patterned Paper using MFT Blueprints 15. I then die-cut the bottom window portion of the Fishbowl Die-names into the card. I die-cut 2 pieces of acetate from the large Fishbowl and adhered one on top of the Smooth White card stock, cut a piece of white fun foam and layered that on, dumped in my sequins, layered on another piece of acetate and then cut more Smooth White card stock from the full Fishbowl Die-namics to completely over the top so that the entire fishbowl is on top. I stamped the sentiment at the top center of the fishbowl with Versafine Onyx Black.  I had die-cut and stamped all of my images in a lot of colors and adhered a seashell and sand dollar on each side of the sentiment. When you open up the card, the actual scene is inside.

I drew a line with a pencil on the Smooth White card stock so I would know where to start building my scene. For my die-cut seaweed, I’m pretty sure that I used Sour Apple and Fuse Green MFT Premium card stock. I pulled out all of my ink cube packages and picked my colors from that pallet rather than hunt through my full-size ink pads and just started coordinating my colors. The inside images are all adhered directed to the card with the exception of the little purple starfish that was put on foam tape. With my new blog, I’m not sure if you can double click on the picture so you can see a larger size. If not, then I’ll have Brian add that feature and a Pin It hover graphic too, if not already installed.

Here is another view of my shaker card lying flat. It was very difficult to get the glare out of the picture or I just could have moved it to a better place for a better picture.

Thank you so very much for stopping by to visit me today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, enjoy my card and God bless.

Please note that all of the Sea Life products mentioned above are now retired and are no longer available through MFT Stamps. I also used all sets of MFT Premium Dye Ink Cubes that were included in my card kits and others that are currently out of stock.
