TGIF Featuring Mixed Drinks by Stampin’ Up!

Hello there my friends and Thank God It’s Friday! It’s been a long week and I absolutely could not look at red, pink, hearts, anything that has to do with Valentine’s Day. I’m 53. I respect my boundaries. Instead, I made a card to reflect how long I’ve been waiting for today to go out to dinner and have a mixed drink myself!

I have so many more Valentine’s Day cards and projects to show you with videos. It’s just getting the chance to edit them and do voiceovers. Yep. You my dear friends are going to be my guinea pigs. Be nice with the comments, okay?

Let’s chat about today’s card, shall we? I did make a video for this as well. I don’t know if I will be able to do a voiceover on this one, but will see how long the realtime video is. This stamp set is named Mixed Drinks and it’s in the Annual Catalog & Idea Book. I’m on the fence about this card and I should have gone sketch hunting. You know how you have your basic sketch when you don’t really think about making a card? That’s what I did here. I just know that I wanted to use this stamp set. I think the gold adds a little bit of classiness to this what could otherwise be considered a masculine card, especially if I had used the “beer” image that I did for the inside of the card.

I layered on top a piece of designer series paper from By The Shore and cut is just right so that I could get all of the colors in for that panel. My images were stamped with Black Archival Ink and stamped in with various colors that are listed in the extensive product list below and named in the video, onto Very Vanilla card stock. I also used our new Watercolor Pencils too.

I had no idea that Crystal Effects had retired, so I used Glossy Accents to add the droplets to my images. Basic Gray and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils were used to add very light shading and shadowing to my images and then watercolored out using an Aqua Painter and/or Blender Pen.

I think the Glossy Accents adds the dimension that I really needed for this card as it is flat. There is a lot of color on my images which makes up for the otherwise muted designer series paper and card base.

This is just a fun little card to send to a friend. For the inside, I stamped the large beer image using the same colors that I did the Ball Jar image on the front of the card and added another sentiment.

I also tied in the corner-rounded upper left on the front of the designer series paper to the inside on the Very Vanilla card stock.
