Merry Snowman With a Video on How to Make a Custom Frame with Nestabilities

Good morning stampers! I wanted to share with you a technique that I made up on how to use your Nestabilities to make a unique frame around your image. This technique can be used with the majority of your Nestabilities. The card that I made to demonstrate this was also published in Paper Creations Magazine Winter 2011 issue on page 61.

I have an accompanying video to share with you on how I made this frame and I hope that you enjoy it and give it a try yourself. I think that it adds something very special with wonderful results to any project that you make using this technique. As usual, the finished project looks much better in person and I did not show you in the video that I actually colored the snowman's nose with an orange Copic Spica glitter pen to give it a bit of dazzle. This technique can also be used with your other Nestabilities die-cuts too!

Just a little warning, the tops of my hands are on the bruised side, especially the right from the IVs on Monday when I had the first round of laparoscopic back surgeries which yielded some interesting findings (synovial cysts), but that's for another time. The nurse had tried twice on the left side and couldn't get a vein so then I finally told them that the last procedure I had done in December 2010, it took the nurse 17 times and then she finally called in the anesthesiologist who got it on the first try. I don't know what happened to my veins that used to be excellent. After twice this time, I thought that I'd spare myself the other 15 sticks and had the doctor do it and I asked them to put it in my left hand since I'm right-handed and he put it in my right hand. I really don't like IVs in my hand at all. When I watched the video, it looked awful so I just wanted to let you know.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting me today and God bless you. Today's Treasure comes from a very dear friend of mine that she shared with me of Joshua 3:5, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."

  1. Hi Cindy
Thanks so much for your video for this technique.  I'll have to give it a try.  I can assure you that even though you think that the bruises look terrible, they're barely noticable in the video.
As an ER nurse, I can offer you a couple of tips.
Your dominant hand usually has better veins because you use it more.  If the iv is only going to be a quick one ie: only for a day instead of several days, you can explain that you work with your hands and prefer that it be started in your arm if possible.  I'm not sure why you've had such troubles, from what I see you should be an easy start.  Another tip is to explain that you have had troubles in the past with IVs and ask them immediatly to put hot towels on your arms before trying the start.  This will open up the veins, and soften the skin, both of which will make it easier to get a start the first time.  Hopefully that will make you less of a pincushion next time.
    Mel.
