Good morning and this week sure is flying by! Today is my design team work for Paper Maniac showcasing the products in their store and for the iCopic Weekly Challenge 28 where we are experimenting with grass using our Copic markers.
First, I would like to share with you Paper Maniac's May sales good through May 15. They have a large selection of KaiserCraft Paper that I used as the designer paper on my card.
Now onto my card using my Copic markers to make grass using a rubbing alcohol technique. I got a piece of cardboard, a napkin, and then put some rubbing alcohol on the napkin. Since Copic markers are alcohol based, I colored the marker directly onto my clear stamp and then stamped it onto my napkin with the alcohol. I then stamped that onto my card to achieve the watercolor effect. You always want to put down your light color first. I used YG95, YG97, and YG99. Once I had my grass stamped across my paper, I was then able to lay down the darker colors strategically so that you can see all 3 colors.
I did stamp my flower stem image first onto my designer paper. All-in-all, using the rubbing alcohol on the napkin gave me a better image rather than using a mister to spray on the alcohol because that can get a little messy and the alcohol will run down your stamp taking color with it making your stamped image completely inconsistent. Using rubber stamps will also get you the same results. Both clear and rubber stamps will stain after using this technique but it won't affect your image the next time you use the stamp. Even though I used a bright color for my flower, the grass is the focal point and really jumps out at you.
Let me know what you think and how your results turn out using the technique. My sketch for my card is from Card Positioning Systems 216 (CPS216). Thank you so much for stopping by today and may the Lord richly bless you! I'm going to be showing you many pictures and angles of the card that I made.
