SUOC 258: Nautical, Coastal, Sea, World, Marine Theme Card

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge 258, where we have a theme challenge of anything coastal and sea related. The focal point of this card is the hand-crafter life ring bouy.

I started with a Misty Moonlight A2, top-folding, 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card base layered with increments measurements of 1/8″ for the Regular Whisper White and World of Good Specialty DSP. I used 2 layering circle dies to make my life ring buoy. Onto Regular Whisper White CS, I placed the circle die measuring 3-1/8 at its widest point with the inline circle die measuring 2-3/8 at its widest point. You want to layer the smaller circle die inside the larger circle die with the same distance all the way around, then cut. Be sure to keep the inside circle that the dies cut to stamp the image panel on. I used a piece of painter’s tape to keep the 2 circle dies together to use again on the Poppy Parade CS.

I eyeballed about 1-3/4″ at the bottom of the Poppy Parade life ring buoy and snipped the bottom panel. I then lined that up with the leftover Poppy Parade ring and snipped again, so that I’d have even edges. I adhered the Poppy Parade to the Regular Whisper White life ring buoy with liquid adhesive. I then wrapped Linen Threat around the junctions where both colors of cardstock meet. Before I secured to the buoy, I wrapped a criss-cross pattern across the top of the Linen Thread as shown. I also created loops around the buoy between the junctions. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the life ring buoy. If I had to do this all over again, I would have used Thick Whisper White for the grounding buoy. I stamped the small sailboat onto the middle circle and adhered that down with Seal+, then adhered the buoy over that.

I stamped the sentiment onto Regular Whisper White in Poppy Parade ink, die-cut out with the banner from Smooth Sailing, added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back, and secured under the center of the buoy.

For the finishing touch, I colored 2 Star Designer Elements with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and adhered to the right and left side of the buoy as shown.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and play along with us at the challenge site.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a great day and God bless.
