Sending Love From the Mothership, MFTWSC267

Hello there my friends! I know you're expecting another video in my Botanical Gardens series, but I got a box of a Whole Lotta Happy and inside was this awesome Out of This World stamp set with coordinating Die-Namics by My Favorite Things. I could not turn down the opportunity to ink it up immediately. I'm going to go ahead and play along with MFTWSC267 even though I'm playing a little hard and fast with the sketch. You just have to look at certain elements on the card to see how they are substituted, i.e., the attached sentiment banners substituted for the tag.

I do have Part 3 below with a video and White Wedding card for you.

My son calls me "The Mothership," and if you look at one of the sentiments in the stamp set, it says, "Sending Love From the Mothership." No further explanation needed. And he likes yellow and gold, not to mention he's a total Trekkie. He got a total kick when he read this card and it made him smile and laugh. That is what giving cards to others is all about, isn't it? It's to make their day, smile, laugh, and feel loved, when they know that you took the time and put your heart into something just for them.

This is not a super masculine card, but I couldn't resist all of the fun colors, die-cutting the stars into the image panel that I put gold glimmer paper behind, heat embossing my sentiment, and coloring with my Copic markers. I love to color so much. It's very relaxing to me, but the nerve damage to my right wrist is catching up to me and it's hard to keep a steady hand. I'm going to go back to physical therapy to gain more strength and am strongly considering letting my neurologist go in and take a look-see at the nerves for possible repair. I'm right-handed and live alone, and that will present its own set of challenges. However, my son is just 5 miles away and he will help out as much as possible, which is very comforting to me.

For the background of my card, it was originally white card stock, but it really needed something more. By this time, this panel with my "planet ground cover" was already adhered to the fun foam behind the panel, so I lightly distressed it with Pumice Stone Distress Ink with a mini foam ink blending tool. Since it was white card stock, I didn't get the smooth coverage I was after and the die-cut left indents in the card stock. To tone it down, I lightly tossed on water droplets, let them sit for about 15 seconds and then blotted them off with a paper towel. I had to do this a few times to get the effect I wanted without risking warping the card stock too much. For my "planet ground cover," I die-cut two pieces using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-Namics by My Favorite Things so that it would line up with my Blueprints 13 frame onto Papertrey Ink's Confetti Toss Patterned Paper Collection, which has some great patterns and colors in it. I colored my spaceship and little spaceman using the same colors in the Confetti Toss paper to color with my Copic markers. I first distressed the paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink, but this had a greenish hue to it when I was after a light brown to resemble dirt or sand, so I went over it with Frayed Burlap and that gave me the look I was after. My sentiment is heat embossed onto After Midnight card stock with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder, cut into strips and then adhered to the upper left corner with my Tim Holtz Tiny attacher. I wanted to use gold embossing powder, but then I think it would have been too much gold. There are 4 large stars in the Out of This World Die-Namics and so I cut them out using Stampin' Up! Gold Glimmer Paper to use as falling stars.

I think this is a really cute card overall and hope that you do too. Since my electronics need an exorcism, these are iPhone pictures since my camera has decided not to sync with my Mac now to edit. Due to this, of course, I'm late in entering this cad into the challenge, even though it was completed last weekend, but MFT has a Facebook page that I can post my card to.

Thank you so very much for stopping by today to visit me. I really appreciate it. Have a great day and God bless!
