I have my Copic marker storage to share with you today. What makes this work is the DIY shims that I made to keep the markers in color order and straight. Each cubby can fit 4 rows of 6 markers for a total of 24 markers.
I store my markers in Studio 3 Solutions cubbies. This company has been in and out of business so many times that I can’t even keep count, but you can find them on eBay and other crafters selling their cubbies to switch to Organize More (have you seen their awesome new website yet?!) or Stamp ‘N Storage units, both of which I am a proud Affiliate. What I have works, so I’m keeping it. They have lasted for close to a decade now, 2 cross country moves and about another 10 moves in between. They were originally $16.99 and boy have these puppies held up like you wouldn’t believe!
Organizing my Copic markers was not fun. It was a chore. However, I can actually fit more per cubby that I could just shoving them in there – not to mention the colors I wanted were so hard to find! As you can see below, everything is now organized by color and marker number, i.e., BG10.
The beauty of this method is the DIY shims. I can take markers out, let it all become an OCD’s worst nightmare, and then put them all back in perfectly once I am done using them. It’s a win-win!
The secret is the shims. I cut a piece of heavyweight card stock, at least 100 lb., to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/4. You fold the card stock in half on the 5-1/4″ side and slip it into the right side of the cubby. The shim will not fit all the way back to the end of the cubby due to the cubby slant cut, but with the heavyweight card stock, make sure to leave the folded edge at the top when you insert it into the cubby. DO NOT make a bone fold crease. Just use your fingers to crease the fold. You need the “spring” of the card stock to keep the markers straight.
As I was organizing the markers, I did have to grab my reverse tweezers a few times to pull the shim up towards me to keep the markers straight. I can absolutely live with the 1% ugly factor to have markers this organized. You can easily see the shims in the picture above in how they are a little bit open and that’s good. It’s what you want so you get that “spring” of the paper keeping the markers straight.
All of my other markers are just kind of thrown in my other cubbies ROYGBIV order and it’s easy enough to look for them. I do have my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and Crayons stored in the same cubby by ROYGBIV. Everything is organized in rainbow order in my craft room. It’s so pretty, playful and colorful.

I’ve spent a long time trying to get my space organized and sell off my older stamp sets and dies and everything else that I haven’t touched in 6 months. I do not make New Year’s Resolutions. I never have been one to do that. I set goals for the New Year.
For 2017, I want to keep up with my ongoing series of Clean and Simple Tuesday and start Faith on Friday again, with intermittent seasonal series in between. I would like to do more fun series for you on my blog, keep up with my social media that I am absolutely horrible with – and I do mean horrible – very bad – so awful that it affects my exposure horrible – really work my Stampin’ Up! business (I will be making an announcement in the future for a part-time assistant), create more, become more organized, share more with you on a regular basis, and so much more. My BFF and my Stampin’ Up! upline, Pam Staples, who you can find at Sunny Girl Scraps and I are thinking about starting back up my online card classes as partners. Pam is the team leader of the Paper Craft Crew, which is a challenge blog that I’ve been involved with for years and coordinate the Mid-Week Inspiration to share with you additional projects for the challenge on the weekend. I just love and adore Pam. She’s always been such a great source of inspiration and support for me. She is really working her Stampin’ Up! business and the company is definitely noticing her stamina and work to where she was able to do a presentation at OnStage a few months ago in Atlanta! How exciting is that?!
I’d like to learn my video software better and do videos for every project with voiceovers. I want to build up my InLinkz product lists and get all of my Affiliates in order for links. I would like to be more consistent with my newsletter. It’s crazy that I have over 7000 subscribers and I don’t take advantage of that! I know……I would also like to do a lot more work with my Stampin’ Up! business as stated above with more Product Shares and valuable information for you, as well as my Monthly Crafting Kits and Online Workshops and Classes. I would also like to get serious about my Cindy B Designs Monthly Challenges again too. Overall, I need to focus rather than being spread all over the place. It’s like having 10 projects going on at once and never finishing any of them. I have Christmas tags that I seriously started in September 2012 that are still in the same basket to be completed – and they’ve lasted through 3 moves. I keep my individual projects that I have going in baskets and yep, this one has been sitting for over 4 years now. I swear I’m going to finish that up this weekend. This also reminds me of my Etsy Boutique that I’ve just let go and have so many beautiful cards, 3D items, Mixed Media, gift tags, boxes, bags, you name it, that I could fill my shop up with. I hope you stop by to visit me some time!
While I so incredibly appreciate the free products that my manufacturers send me, I am feeling very overwhelmed, use them a few times, or not at all, so they need a new home. I know that once I declutter, I will feel so much better and will certainly be much more productive and I believe my creativity will soar. Sometimes too much is just too much and I have too much. I feel like crafting invades my entire life and my home. I am good about keeping up with my Instagram and you wouldn’t believe some of the craft storage places I post – like an apothecary in my bedroom that is filled with various sizes of envelopes, notecards, twine and more. My stamps are stored in the hallway closet in the guest wing of my home. Fortunately, I have a lot of storage in my home and the bathroom items all fit in the bathroom storage. I am grateful that I have my own 10 x 13 space that I can close the door on and my friend who custom-built my beautiful craft room for me. For the rest of my Handmade Holidays 2016, I have a lovely Christmas card to share with you and then I made the most coolest gift box for you with a video that I hope to do my first voiceover on.
As you can see, I have some pretty lofty goals and I intend to fully succeed with every single one of them…and there’s more too that I want to do with my blog and designs. I also have more work to do on my new blog design with Brian and Nicole at Integrant Services. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this wonderful company! As March approaches, I have some seriously, exciting BIG NEWS for you! I know that I am so thrilled to take on a new and fun adventure, and it’s a different avenue outside of crafting that I’m really looking forward to and I am confident that you will too.
