Spring Occasions Week #5 Featuring Dragonfly Dreams

Hello friends and a very happy Saturday to you! Today is the first of what might be two blog posts. I do have the 2nd one going of my February challenge, but it’s one of those work on the project while you type of the blog post things so that you can type out all of the Zig markers you used on what so you can put them away immediately and not have a trashed craft desk with everything everywhere all the time. It’s that way normally, but I’m working on it.

Meet today’s card! I made it from the fabulous and most popular Dragonfly Dreams Bundle that consists of the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. This is on page 26 of the new Spring Occasions Catalog and the card I made you today is a sample of a concept artist project from Stampin’ Up!. I added my own touches to it.

There a piece of lovely patterned paper in the Cupcakes & Carousel Designer Series Paper Stack. I tore a piece of paper out of that and did some ink blending and added some additional stamping to the bottom of the card with the dots. I cut 3 pieces of paper from the stack, cut them and lined them up on my Crumb Cake card base. I did some ink blending with Bermuda Bay and So Saffron a bit on the heavy side that turned out great. The cluster of circles was stamped in Island Indigo for additional texture. I machine stitched a gold outline around my card to tie in the die-cut gold foil butterfly that I placed a Basic Large Pearl into the center of.

For the dragonfly at the top of the card, that was stamped out first with Crumb Cake for the wings with the detail stamped in Soft Suede. I then die-cut out the image. Under the image, I also die-cut the detailed outline of the dragonfly with Bermuda Bay card stock to add more texture, color and it makes a nice embellishment. I tied a piece of Linen Thread through a Very Vanilla Neutrals Button that has a nice pattern to it. I love the colors and patterns in the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack. It is so very versatile!

My sentiment was stamped in Black Archival Ink and I cut a simple slant at the banner end and curled it a bit with my bone folder after I had stitched it to the card. This card is a little bit Mixed Media with the ink blending and other elements that I have added to it.
