Paper Craft Crew Challenges 141 & 142; Journal + Card w/ Video

Happy Saturday my friends. Today I have two projects and a video to share with you for my design team work over at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge 141 and 142.

My first project is a journal that I made for my cousin. She really needs it right now and since I already gave it to her, I'm going to post it for you below and go off of memory. Lots of pictures! This was the large journal in the Spring Occasions Catalog. I used the Butterfly Basics stamp set and made it a point to use all of the retiring In Colors that I love so much, with a few other colors in the Stampin' Up! color line of Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Pistachio Pudding and So Saffron. I also busted out my spritzer and inserted a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to use on the base of the journal before I started my stamping. Then I just started building up the journal. The abundance of materials that you can die-cut with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies are insanely crazy. I die-cut vellum, window sheets, gold and silver card stock with the coordinating vellum to layer, everything! It was very fun to see what I could do with this. With   this die when you use vellum and especially the window sheets, I recommend using wax paper on both sides of your card stock. Before you die-cut the window sheets, use a Swiffer or dryer sheet to remove the static from it.

I just stamped, die-cut and punched my way through this journal. A fun find is our paper doilies are 4" and the paper doilies in the Artisan Embellishment Kit are 2-1/2" so I layered them on top of each other with Stampin' Dimensionals. I also used Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper to do a bit of sponging ombre effect on the top large butterfly with Coastal Cabana and Pear Pizzazz. The designer paper is already pre-embossed so you just use a dauber or sponge to put down your ink and a paper towel to wipe off any ink that was not over the embossed pattern. It wasn't messy at all and very easy to do, especially with all of the fun 6 patterns inside the package. Most of what I used will be retiring in a few weeks and everything is priced to sell, so get what you want now because a lot has already sold out.

Just wait until you see the new catalog! I did and it's honestly my favorite to date. So many fun new products that are so on trend and a many trend-setters too! If you've ordered over $150 from me in the past year, your catalog will be arriving in the mail. If you would like a catalog, please send me an email and I will get one out to you as soon as I receive mine.

I used a lot of different techniques on this journal down to heat embossing. I think the ribbon gave it the edge that it needed so it wasn't so girly.

For my next project, I just made a card. Since Stampin' Up! does not have a Wink of Stella type pen, I made a short video on how you can make your own glitter/glimmer pen. You might wonder why I added the water when i could have just taken the dry brush and applied it to my flower. The Smooch Spritz is too intense and you won't get a subtle shine; however, if you're after the intensity, do not add water. The beauty of my method is that you are not limited to one color. You have the entire Stampin' Up! color palette available to you if you use one of our re-inkers.

IMG_1706 IMG_1707I do apologize for the picture quality. I took it when it was dark and I accidentally sent the card off to a friend before I took a picture in the daylight.

I hope that you have enjoyed my projects today and thank you so much for stopping by to visit me. God bless you and have a great day.
