Hello there! Today I thought that I’d make a super fast card because I needed to make a super fast card since my schedule is packed. I decided to take 10 for some creative time. I will get a supply list up after I get my errands done today.
This week, MFT Stamps is having their 2nd Camp Create 2017 for the summer. I participated last year in all 10 days. Today is Day 2 and all about Magnificent Masking. Karolyn Loncon from the MFT DT is presenting today’s challenge. My card is a good semi-CASE of one of her MFT DT Release cards from a few months ago. I used Beach Bunnies and Distress Inks to watercolor the images and masked my beach and sky to get that blended line to differentiate the two.
I will admit that this was my 2nd take on the card. The first go around, I decided to drop in some water splats on the sand only. The ink colors I used for the sand and sky are MFT Dye Inks. The sand was Biscotti, Insulation Pink and Latte. I don’t suggest any water on this color combination unless it’s on purpose to color something in to blend and for ink blending, but not to ink blend on cardstock and toss some water on top to get that distress look. No. Bad idea. Of course, I did this after I had ink blended the sky and clouds, I so very carefully cut off the portion where the clouds were. I was not going to do that again. I only had to do the sand again. I adhered the cloud panel to the top and you can’t even tell there’s a cut line. If I could tell, I would have covered it or trashed it. I’m way too OCD to let that go. It’s just not going to happen. I didn’t get mud, but a color that is really indescribable along the lines of horrible. When I ink blended, it turned out great, as you can see. The sky was inked on using the MFT Stamps Clouds Stencil with Sno Cone Dye Ink. The image panel was done on Distress Watercolor Paper, smooth side.
I watercolored the bunny and little beach huts in with various bright and fun Distress Inks. My sentiment is stamped onto Smooth White Cardstock with Black Licorice Dye Ink, trimmed down and a slit trimmed at an angle with my paper snips. Everything was adhered to a Berrylicious A2 top-folding landscape card.
All of the images and sentiment are up on foam tape for a bit of dimension. I think this card looks fine just the way that it turned out. I didn’t want to detract from the simplicity of the scene by adding embellishments.
