Painted Poppies Technique Project

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a project created with our core products from the Annual Catalog of Lovely You, Painted Poppies, Poppy Moments Dies, and Ornate Frames Dies, with several techniques on board of die-cutting. heat embossing, sponging, and watercoloring for this very simple, yet elegant card, that is pretty gender-neutral with the gray and black elements. I haven’t ran a sentence like that for a long time. Anyhow …

I lightly watercolored on our Basic White Regular CS, which is okay in very small amounts.

This is such a classic sketch with endless color combinations and creative opportunities. We have so many fabulous stand-alone die-cuts and that’s exactly how this card was created.

As always, your Supplies and Instructions are below. I did forget to list Versamark Ink for my white heat embossing for the sentiment.

I started out with an A2 Smoky Slate card base and layered a piece of Basic Gray CS on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut the Basic White solid flower and leaf bases + the overlaying elements from Poppy Moments Dies. I watercolored the overlays of the leaves with Soft Sea Foam with the stamens in Daffodil Delight. The flowers were adhered together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, as were the leaves, but I used my Bone Folder to curl up the ends of the leaves for a bit of flare, adhering about half of the lower leaf to the Basic Gray image panel. The flowers were adhered with full-size Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stamens were cut from Poppy Moments from Daffodil Delight CS and sponged with the same color around the edges, then adhered with liquid glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped this with Versamark from Lovely You, white heat embossed, and cut from an Ornate Frame Die. This was adhered to the bottom right of the image panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added 2 small Matte Black Dots at the top left to tie in the sentiment panel + the Rule of Odds.

I love the contrast of the white and grays in this card with just a little hint of watercolor. I’m debating on whether or not to finish this up with Wink of Stella or Basic Black splatters.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
