Happy 16th Birthday Moose and Christian Paper Crafts Sweet Summertime June Blog Hop

Good morning! First of all, I'd like to wish my youngest son a very Happy 16th Birthday! When we were unpacking recently, I ran across a pair of his Baby Osh Kosh 'B Gosh shoes that he used to wear. That's all my kids wore when they were babies. I just loved their clothing and that's actually how he got his nickname too, of Moosey; but we've shortened it up to Moose and that name has stuck with him. In New York where he grew up, his teachers called him Moose or Moosey. He still answers to it too when i call it out. The moose animal print happened to be the boy thing that year so most of his clothing had moose on it. I'm talking to him in the mommy baby talk one day and told him he was a little "Moosey boy." That's how it all started. I even had a little baseball cap made for him that said Moosey or Moosey Boy on it. I forgot which, but I do know that he still has it and he did wear it all the time. Now he's a 16-year-old, 6'1" and 160 pound young man who is driving. Scott is my joker who also happens to be very OCD and goes through the most hilarious phases of his life, and then he rotates them and gives us the pleasure of a second round. There's been the germophobe, Star Trek, Yes (that awful band from the 80s – he was so born in the wrong decade), the food police, and now the Buick phase. Yes, you heard me right. He's not qualified to even own a Buick for another 50 years but he is obsessed with them to the point of writing the president of the company telling them how they can improve their cars. He knows every single statistic there is to know about a Buick, and I do mean every single statistic, including everything that will be in the 2011 models compared to the 2010 models. He makes me take him to Buick car dealerships for fun and is going to be expecting me to today so that I can drive every single model they have. It's especially comical when he combines his OCD phases, like he is now, of Buick, food police, Yes, and Star Trek. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Two Moose stories and then I'll get to the blog hop. My son will only turn 16 once and there's a blog hop every month, so indulge me. We have every single episode of every single Star Trek series that was ever made. At the height of his Star Trek addiction that all of us heard 24/7, it does rub off on you. We almost got into an accident one day and instead of hollering to the kids to "hold on,"  I told them to "brace for impact!" And they all knew what I meant! Fortunately, it was only a close call but the kids sure did have a good time making fun of me, which, of course, I blamed it all back on Scott and his Star Trek. Listen, he's such a good boy that even at 16, he'll get out those Legos and build an extremely detailed Enterprise. I am so blessed to have him. I'll drop everything and pay attention to that space ship that he's building because I don't think he'll be building them much longer and I want to capture that moment in time. I take pictures of all of his Enterprises too.

The second story was recently in the winter and it was freezing. We had a terrible winter in Kentucky. So we're at this Buick parking lot looking around for ideas for another car for Mackenzie after her accident. He hugs a Buick. My girls are walking around, I'm freezing, so I get in the car. Then the girls get in the car a few minutes later. I start driving off forgetting Scott and he's running across that parking lot as fast as he can (good thing he's a track runner) and starts banging on the windows for me to stop and hollering at me, "I hate you!" The girls and I are laughing so hard I'm crying. Scott gets in the car and can't believe that I left him in a Buick dealership and forgot about him. I honestly just forgot about him and couldn't figure out what the big deal was because he was at his favorite place in the world. I still hear about that one to this day and still laugh about it and so does he.

Since the picture below, Scott's lost about 70 pounds and grew to over 6 feet and this was taken less than a year ago. I'm so proud of him.

Have a blessed and wonderful 16th birthday Moosey! Mommy loves you!

Now for the blog hop. In keeping with the spirit of our Sweet Summertime theme, what else reminds you of summer than a beautiful flower garden? That's what I made. It's basically a one layer card with the image panel adhered to black card stock with foam dots. I'm really into dimension lately. It just adds this dramatic effect that I like. I hope that you like this card and have fun at the hop! Here's more information about the Christian Paper Crafts Monthly Blog Hops. Be sure to hop along with us for your chance at some great prizes, including a fab stamp set from Pink Persimmon! God bless you and have a wonderful day.
