CASology 5th Anniversary Blog Hop!

Hello there! Can you believe that CASology has been around now for 5 years?! That flew by fast. But, in those 5 years, CASology has become one of the most popular clean and simple challenge sites out there. Melissa keeps you on your toes weekly with fun Cue Cards in that all participants are focusing on the same theme. It’s really cool to see how everybody interprets one word.

This week, I’m really honored to be a part of the CASology special 5th Anniversary Blog Hop with some amazing talent, manufacturers and online stores offering you inspiration and prizes along the way.

DETAILS:

  1. START: Tuesday, July 25 at 8 am CST.
  2. END: Monday, July 31 at 12 pm CST.
  3. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENTS: Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
  4. Leave a comment on blog hop participants blogs.
  5. Have fun!

Ready? Here is this week’s Cue Card!

And here is my card.

This is not my signature clean and simple style. I played hard and fast with this one. This card also has a sordid story. First, I blew the clean and simple aspect of it. Second, as I’m ready to hit PUBLISH, I notice that the Cue Card said BALLOON, not S, as in plural, and I have 3 on my card!

This means I thought of a new card idea in 2 seconds, for real, and will have to make another one and add it to this blog post. Fair enough?

Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Sky seem to be the “IT’ colors right now. I never jump on those clique bandwagons, but this is a very unique color combination that just works. Of course, I have a million+ ideas of embossing the Soft Sky panel, Wink of Stella on die, stacking die, something to make the foil declare itself a bit more…BUT…I stamped my balloon strings straight with no smudging and got them lined up perfectly. That is success! I owned the cardstock. This will also probably be the only time in the history of forever where I was the Queen of my Craftroom. It was exhilarating!

I used Happy Birthday Gorgeous for the balloons and large die-cut; and Eastern Palace for the corner detail. I’ve noticed that a lot of the stamp sets and designer series paper details have those 3 little whale water spouts, at least that’s what I call them, that really helps you pull everything together. I can’t believed how much I’ve missed over the years not paying attention to the details that really made the difference.

I’m the end of the line of this fabulous blog hop. Just in case you missed somebody along the way – and can you get over all of the manufacturers involved ?! – wow! I have a list below for you.

  1. Beautiful card! I love the little “whale spouts” as you called them, it does tie everything together nicely.

  2. Try as I might, I can never get clean and simple… it’s too easy to keep on going. And Balloon(s) look great. The more the merrier.

  3. I love all of your commentary. I’m guessing that is just what you would say if you were talking to me! Your color choices are vibrant and make for a very happy card.

  4. I am so with you when you do a card, then realise that something is not quite right about it – the theme, or the colours I misread……but if the cue card is balloon, and it makes you think of balloons – then that’s good inspiration, right?

  5. you may be at the end of the line Cindy but your CAS card is just as awesome as all the rest! I love it and 3 balloons just means a bigger PARTY! LOL A great job and a fun hop! TFS!
    Congratulations again CASOLOGY!

  6. What a fun post – I really got a giggle and I love that.
Your card may not be CAS per definition, but it’s quite
    lovely just the same.

  7. That large sentiment is awesome and the way you have used it on your card it perfect! Love your creation and thanks for such a totally fun hop!

  8. Sordid story or not your card is still fabulous! And I’ve done the same as you – more than one balloon on my card too, ooops! Perhaps as it’s a birthday celebration Melissa will be lenient

  9. Love this card and your narrative brought a smile! Can’t tell you how many times I have smudged or “miscut” the single scrap of card stock needed to finish a card. (Is “miscut” a word?….should be.) Anyway, your card is worthy of the big celebration!

  10. Cindy, it looks as if I’ve blown it, too! Balloon times five on my card!!! =] =] well, it IS a party, right? congratulations, and thanks for sharing your card!
    =]

  11. While it might not be quite as CAS as you’d like it to be, this card is still gorgeous. LOVE those balloons, and that sentiment is fantastic. I think this is a really special card. Love it!

  12. What an awesome card, Cindy! I have that stamp set & love your design. This will be a case for me for sure! Thanks for the great inspiration>

  13. I don’t think they really meant one balloon.
You can’t have a party with only one balloon.
    Love your card.
    thanks for sharing.

  14. Meh…one balloon, three balloons. I’d have added a bunch more balloons – they’re wonderful!!

  15. I think this turned out really great! I love that bold sentiment! This is a really fun card! TFS!

  16. OMG!!. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Your balloon card!!!. So amazing!!. I must get all that was used to create as its awesome!!!. Be great to use for any age. Love the Happy Birthday used.

  17. I have 4 balloons on the card I submit for the blog hop haha, a bunch of balloons just puts a smile on your face! Thanks for the fun inspiration, this isn’t a color combo I would have thought of, but it all came together very well on your card!

  18. Isn’t it funny that we can read the challenge points and then end up going off in a different direction? Glad to know that others get side-tracked with their creations. Anyway, I like your “mistakes”

  19. Such a pretty card Cindy and a really lovely background. The large sentiment with the balloons attached to the end is a great idea. There have been many cards with more than one balloon so I think you are in good company. x

  20. I would not call it a clean and simple card, but still a very nice card. I love the “dotted” balloons, they’re very unique.

  21. How wonderful to see your creativity highlighted in this marvelous hop! Your trio of balloons has certainly added sparkle to my day! Your post makes me smile; I’m still waiting to be ‘queen’ in my craft room *grin*

  22. LOVE this! FAB colour combo and I don’t think you can never have too many balloon/s on a card! I am sure that you won’t be disqualified for having more than one 😉 especially when it’s such a beautiful design. Thank you so much for the wonderful inspiration. Hugs Bev x

  23. Your attention to detail makes this card special–the the “whale spouts” 🙂 Balloons (plural) and birthdays–they just go together. Thanks for sharing this delightful card.

  24. ?? that happy birthday die and I think the more balloons the merrier ?… oh those happy moments when we conquer our CR’s are priceless, aren´t they? ?thanks for the backstage coments and the inspiration, have a wonderful day!

  25. I wouldn’t’ve made a distinction of one balloon vs balloons… There’s A balloon and another balloon and another one. ha! Love the spots on them and your ‘water spout’ corners! : ) Happy 5th anniversary, CASology!

  26. I love your card and the colour combo you chose! I’m sure balloonS is absolutely fine – I’ve seen lots of other cards on the hop with several balloons! And I have a lot more on the card I did for the challenge!

  27. Wow, they saved the best for last, didn’t they! I like how you went outside the box and made a card that wasn’t your typical CAS. Each piece on this card makes sense and works well with all the others.

  28. This is a wonderful card. And I love that you thought of more balloons….remember it is your interpretation of the cue word. Thanks so much for all of your support over the years and for helping us celebrate our 5th anniversary.

  29. Such a fun card, even if you did blow the CAS aspect of it lol. I don’t think there’s a limit as to the number of balloons on our cards. Come to think of it, I’m completely covered, since I created 2 cards for the challenge: one with only 1 balloon and another with 4 balloons. Grin.
