Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a color theory project and taking Love of Leaves tropical.
Last Saturday, I featured the Loves of Leaves autumn/fall bundle with fresh and fun Spring colors in this BLOG POST. Today, I am taking it tropical with a color palette of Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, and Early Espresso. There are several techniques used of ink blending, ink splattering, inlay die-cuts, stacked die-cut, heat embossing, and sponging ink direct to the image stamp with Sponge Daubers, that I forgot to add to the Supplies. Merry Merlot would also make a beautiful card base color.
Shimmery White Card Stock was used as the image panel rather than the go-to of Basic White. I’m always up for adding office supplies to any project and used one of our retired Binder Clips on the left side. Products like that are the ONLY retired items that I hold onto, which is clips of all shapes, sizes, and colors, sewing notions, etc.
I also incorporated In the Tropics Dies from the Annual Catalog with the new Tropical Layers Dies from the Spring Catalog to share with you the coordinating scale of the images and die-cuts in both products.

I started out with a top-folding A2 Early Espresso card base and cut scrap pieces of Magenta Madness and Granny Apple Green to 3-3/34 sq and added Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Magenta Madness CS only. I adhered the Granny Apple Green CS at an angle to the Magenta Madness CS with liquid adhesive.
I then cut the image panel from the 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle Die out of Shimmery White CS. I stamped the leaf cluster image from the Artfully Layered stamp set x3 in Versamark ink then heat embossed with white powder. I loaded up a Blending Brush with Mango Melody ink, rubbed off the excess onto a piece of grid paper, then started blending the ink out from the center. I used a Swiffer Cloth to wipe the ink off of the embossed images. A Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker was ink splattered onto the image panel using the cap of the marker.
For the die-cutting, I used the open-faced large leafy die from Tropical Layering Dies cut from Early Espresso. From In the Tropics Dies, the flowers were cut from Magenta Madness with the teeny tiny stamens cut from Early Espresso, and ‘aloha’ from Magenta Madness x5.
The leaves from Love of Leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green. I inked up a Sponge Dauber with Garden Green and sponged it onto one side of the leaves building up the color until I achieved the desired look. The leaves were then cut from their coordinating outer and inner detail dies with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals applied to the back.
I stacked the ‘aloha’ word die x5 using liquid adhesive.
For final assembly, I adhered the Early Espresso leaf die to the center of the image panel with liquid adhesive. I arranged the green leaves on the image panel and adhered this with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and liquid adhesive atop of the Early Espresso die. I scattered about the 3 Magenta Madness flowers that were adhered with liquid adhesive and then inlay the teeny tiny stamens that were cut from Early Espresso to the center with liquid adhesive using our Take Your Pick tool. The ‘aloha’ sentiment was adhered with liquid adhesive.
I lined the image panel up with the card stock mats and adhered it with liquid adhesive, then adhered it all to the card base with the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals that I had put on the Magenta Madness CS at the beginning. Lastly, I added the Binder Clip to the left side.
