Work of Heart, Paper Craft Crew Challenge Sketch 127 (PCCCS127)

Hey stampers. I'm back today with another Valentine's Day card to share with you. I don't know why I'm making so many of these considering I hate Valentine's Day. Well, I don't have to hate it anymore come to think of it since I will be a part of it like the rest of the universe. Cool! Doing the happy dance here!

I broke some records with this unbelievably clean and simple card for my design team work at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Sketch 127 (Keyword: PCCCS127, Hashtag: #PCCCS127). You will just have to go over to the blog and check it out for yourself. They are all very fun. Our fearless leader and my upline, Pam Staples, also has this thing for Gorgeous Grunge, which is fine with me.

I used 5 stamp sets on this card and no white (okay, maybe just the twine), which is something I have never done before, and they all pulled together on this card fabulously. I will admit I had to cheat since I could not find my Stampin' Up! Heart dies. They are in one of 3 places, seriously. I looked for 30 minutes to find them and found everything else BUT what I needed. A clean craft space is in order today and that's exactly what I will be doing. Instead of cleaning up and just putting everything in the spare room and closing the door leaving that place a mess, I'm actually going to organize that space as well. It won't be done in one day but it's a much needed start. With the color palette I used, it also gave me an idea for my kitchen. My backsplash is 2 x 2 light blue glass squares. As a general rule, I do not decorate with pastels. They are more of a sea glass color. I have managed to incorporate some red and a tad of gray, but maybe introducing a color along the lines of Crisp Cantaloupe might bring a much needed additional element into my kitchen and breakfast nook.

Anyhow, back to the fun stuff! I pretty much amazed myself. I just started grabbing stamp sets and got to work. I didn't use any new products in the Sale-A-Bration or Spring Occasions Catalogs. That alone surprised me. Everything just came together on its own quite beautifully I think. It's a challenge alone not to use white but I've had Smoky Slate, Crisp Cantaloupe and Soft Sky on the brain a lot, especially Crisp Cantaloupe since it's the decorator's "Color of the Year." I saw the sentiment from Work of Art first and thought it would be really cool to stamp the "h" and "e" in front of it but I needed another color hence bringing in the red. It works. Then I used the arrows in red to form that visual triangle. All of my stamping was done tone-on-tone. The Soft Sky panel has little arrows across it with a Soft Sky button on the panel keeping that color grouped and I also kept the Crisp Cantaloupe grouped with the hearts. There's great texture to this card of arrows, stripes and dots. The red arrows are stamped on some Real Red textured card stock that I found in my scraps. These colors are no where near each other on the Color Wheel but with the sketch, they pulled together quite nicely and I'm very happy with the way this non-traditional Valentine's Day card turned out. I hope that you are too.

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit me today and God bless you. Make today count.
