Hello there! Today I have a card for you that I made using the new Carols of Christmas Bundle with the inlay technique. I love nontraditional colors for Christmas cards as a general rule, but went Christmas on this card with shimmer and glimmer, blue and silver. I’ve been really wanting to experiment and play with the new Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. This stuff is a dream to work with. It’s very pliable and soft.
As I was playing with this bundle, there’s a lot of possibilities to use the coordinating die-cuts throughout the year. The frame alone is awesome with a significant amount of detail taken into consideration. There’s several detail stamps in the set and those are the stamps that we rarely pay attention to, when in fact, they are actually the most useful stamps in the entire set. I do plan on doing a Quick Tip Video on this for you too. You can create patterns, accents and embellishments of all kinds. I put up a card several months ago where I had a scalloped panel and used those little accent stamps to stamp all the way around the frame and it turned out fabulous! I look at what’s in my stamp sets now in a new way and get more use out of them as it forces me to think outside of the box. I have a Quick Tip Video coming up on designer series paper and making your own with a unique twist to it. OnStage is coming up for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and we make swaps, a ton of them, to swap with other Demo’s for inspiration, networking, etc. I’ve started mine and in one DSP pack, I only need 2 pieces of paper. I made my own DSP instead and it turned out perfect. I think you’ll enjoy the video – and the process video below of this card, and the other items up for sale that I have. I loved playing with the new Crinkled Seam Binding. It’s like a soft blankie. The Silver Cord and Jingle Bells are a last minute embellishment. The center of the bow needed something and I picked the perfect little handmade cluster of bells. These are retired, but still useful; therefore, they stay in the craft room. The texture of the Silver Cord is awesome. It has a natural curl to it and its own mind that actually knows what to do for an inanimate object. It’s also super easy to make as you will see in the video.
The inlay technique above with the trees using the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper worked perfectly. The DSP has an ombre’ style and I used it to my advantage. There’s a lot of shimmer and glimmer in this card that the camera couldn’t pick up, but hopefully you will catch it in the video. This was a relatively easy enough card to make overall. The video actually goes by pretty fast and I didn’t bore myself this time as there was always something going on. I actually had a hard time getting in everything I wanted to say and had to drag out some pics a little bit.
