Partial Heat Embossing for Shabby Vintage Chic

Hello there y’all! I saw this pattern in an advertisement and decided to play with Rooted in Nature and wanting to keep it earthy. Somewhere along the creative hot mess in my mind, I decided to tone it down with vellum, lace, ink distressed edges, then brought wood and metallic on board, and here we are. There’s a lot going on here with the visual triangle focal points, but take a look at the partially heat embossed sentiment. In person, that’s where your eye is immediately drawn. You have the solid gold heat emboss melt, the rough powder speckles, and ink transition. Here’s a close-up of the technique.

I already have a few video requests that I’m knocking out this week and this is easy enough to hitch on if you would like. You will want to use your Stamparatus and apply ink to your sentiment full strength and let dry. Take your powder tool and rub over the sentiment. Apply Versamark to the bottom portion of your sentiment on top of your colored ink. Sprinkle on your embossing powder and heat set. Those stray flecks of powder are very cool in that they really add a bit of grungy rustic feel, as you can visibly see the transition on the stitched oval sentiment panel. Also on top of that are 2 Tranquil Texture Wood Sprinkles and these are not fun to work with, but it was commanded. I ink distressed the edges of everything with Crumb Cake,  but the card base, to dirty it up just a bit. Below is the completed project.

I do plan on a re-edit of these pictures. Neutrals are hard to take and this project is overloaded with them. I’d also like you to see how this really turned out. I’m sitting here with a named blizzard bringing branches down all around me, so why not, right?

We have a standard A2 side-folding 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card base in Very Vanilla. Wood Textures DSP was cut to 4 x 5-1/4 and the image panel is at 3-7/8 x 5-1/8. There’s an accent strip in Wood Textures of 1-1/4 x 5-1/8. Burlap is on top with Very Vanilla Lace and Linen Thread. A copper leaf trinket was placed between the knots.

Here is a side view of the card. I hope you like how this turned out.

Thank you so very much for stopping by to visit me today. Have a great day and God bless!
