Non-Traditional Mother’s Day Card for CardMaker Magazine

Hi there crafty people. Today I have made a video and I don't know how many minutes it is yet but I really tried to keep it short with having a lot of materials pre-cut and pre-everything. I have gone from an average of 40 minutes to 30, so we're getting there. Edited to add – it's a 30 minute video.

CardMaker Magazine has a challenge to make a Mother's Day card, so I decided that I was going to do that today.

I got some brand new Stampin' Up! goodies in the house! I have the new In Color and I really love them all and the Blendabilities. I will be doing a video on that later today making a more traditional Mother's Day card with the red roses, etc., and will be using the Cherry Cobbler Assortment. Instead of a card, it might turn out being more of an instructional tutorial. I'm going to wing it as I have company coming over later today and I can't take good pictures at night no matter how much my little studio is lit up. Don't be afraid to mix and use different color assortments together, but alas, that is also another video.

Today's card focuses on the new In Color Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon using the new Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. These packs are back to offering up a lot of patterns compared to those in the past in this super handy dandy 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 paper pad. I uses a lot of products that I won't be able to link to below so I will see how that turns out. A lot of other bloggers get the name down in the supply list without a link, which I will try. Okay, after an entire afternoon, I didn't try. Building up my product list is so tedious and hard, and a drag, and, and, and…..ugh. I used Lost Lagoon card stock and stitched satin ribbon, and the 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack.

You know, I seriously want to take a nap after building up the list that I did below! But, it's almost 6 p.m. and I can't do that. I had the insurance adjuster and the plumber here at the same time which worked out great as the insurance adjuster could hear exactly what happened right from the plumber because all I'm caring about is the damage right now. Both men were true professionals and very enjoyable. Bella sure loved them. Even though she's a ball of fire and hell on paws, if she didn't like them, she would let me know. A dog never lies. With the plumber, I'm thinking there goes $300 over a loose lug nut or whatever he said, but it was only $92 that my homeowner's insurance won't cover. So very happy about that. I really appreciate honest businessmen, well, honest men in general. Both men told me that they would help me out and walk me through this process do everything that they could do for me. I believe them and that's really cool when a man keeps his word. We talked about knee reconstruction to babies. The insurance adjusted who I thought was 24 actually turned out to be 39 (shock) and has a newborn baby who's name is Aiden and that's the same name of my grandson, so that was fun. Then we talked about having daughter's in puberty and I remember slipping chocolate under Mackenzie's door and running like hell downstairs so she didn't catch me. LOL. I'd give anything for that life back. Anything. So, before I cry from going down memory lane, I had an enjoyable day. It was busy, but nice. I just got my knee, the same right knee, scoped again on Tuesday because a few weeks ago, I slipped on the laminate floor which I am so ready to change to real wood, and took a literal flight into the living room which completely trashed all of the work with the knee reconstruction. Then they gave me morphine and I do not do well on that medicine at all. I got very upset when The Other (Pete's new name) told a friend that he didn't think I had any problems with that medicine when he's been around for 26 years and knows that I do. That was not very nice. So today after that horrible morphine, I semi feel human again and need to edit the video for this so cool card that I made and love. I'm going to give it to myself and I will also give myself the traditional Mother's Day card. My kids will forget and I refuse to be depressed over not being thought of, so I will make my own Mother's Day special because I am a great, fabulous, loving, caring, teaching my kids about Jesus mom who did so much for my kids that they have forgotten, but I haven't. They will remember one day because I raised them in the church by myself and God's Word does not return void. I have God's promise on that and I believe it. I returned.

When this condo got gutted 2 years ago, almost 3 now, the contractor just dry walled over the cold water knob for the washing machine so he's not on my happy list. I am having him come back over to tie up some corners he cut. At that time, daddy was taking care of his wife of 30 years who was dying of pancreatic cancer and could only do so much. So what the general contractor did not do, he will be doing now when I get a hold of him. Either way, the next few weeks are going to be difficult. However, there are new front loaders in that little laundry room that was built in 1980 and if anybody scratches them, them buy them. I took a picture on my phone of these beauties – the things we get excited over these days, it's sad, but they absolutely rock – and they are the same color as daddy's car. So my iPhone pics sync somehow with this Mac so they should be on here. I need to get my Time Machine up here. But, here are a picture of the sa-weet washer and dryer. Of course, the picture does not do it justice. Before daddy died, he gave me a prepaid Visa card to help him fix up his house the way that he wanted it fixed up and I'm doing that. I think he would be happy. Everything comes out so clean and fresh smelling. I love it! Of course, I have organized and straightened up the supplies that are on the top two shelves. I'm just very happy that I can use my washer again but I have one heck of a mess to clean up in places that I can't reach.

I hope that you enjoy this card and video. I like how the card turned out and like making nontraditional cards for holidays and other special days.

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit me and I hope that you will come back soon. Don't forget the very cool BLOG CANDY that I have for you! God bless you and have a great day! May God bless you and keep you. Be in the Word daily and pray daily. I feel so cleansed afterwards and so much closer to God. He's given me strength to do some things that are hard but must be done for the well being and sake of my children. The kids probably will hate it too but they know I've always had their best interests at heart, with a bit of selfishness on my behalf tossed in, but they know that I love them and that I will never stop fighting for them. First thing is first, I want to see my grandson, little Aiden. I want to see who he looks like (wen he's born which is any day now), I want to be able to Skype with him and read him books, just whatever I can do to have a relationship with him and I will do whatever it takes to have a relationship with him. Too bad he's in New York, but that doesn't really mean very much. Distance never meant anything to me anyway and it's not going to start now.

A quickie warning about my video, I tried editing out things that would make the video long so it might seem a little choppy. Again, I'm getting there. I hope that you enjoy the video and my pictures. I think it's a super fun card. Again, hugs and blessings to you.
