Hand-Cut 3D Christmas Card + Handmade Holidays 2018

December 10, 2018 by Cindy Coutts +

Hello there y’all! I hope you’re staying warm and toasty. I’m freezing and looking forward to the possibility of a 52 degree heatwave tomorrow that’s supposed to keep me in good spirits for the next 4 months.

I’m playing along with Freshly Made Sketches (FMS366) this week and made this extremely dimensional Christmas card from last year’s designer series paper I had left over by Stampin’ Up! The shapes you can cut out really leaves the field wide open to build up your 3D project.

I cut about twenty 3 x 3 squares, and you do want to watch how your pattern is lined up when you fold and crisply score the paper in half at 1-1/2″. Then you simply use a sharp pair of paper-only cutting scissors and trim from side-to-side at the corners for a triangle shape.

I then took a 1″ cube that I custom color made with Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand re-inkers swiping the edges of the hand-cut trees. After opening up the trees and stapling them in the center, I started to fluff and play with the edges. Once I was happy, I pulled in Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles and painted the edges of the assembled trees for some sparkle.

The card base is standard A2 top-folding at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, Early Espresso layer cut at 4 x 5-1/4, and Very Vanilla at 3-7/8 x 5-1/8. The sentiment was laid down in Early Espresso from Hearts Come Home by Stampin’ Up! and the beautiful rope cord, that is so easy and pretty to work with, is from a Paper Pumpkin kit late spring/early summer 2018, which is why I strongly suggest subscribing to this service for under $20 a month. The leftovers you have our astounding and can always be used on a project that you need the perfect embellishment or accessory for that’s outside of the box and not in a current publication.

And here we have a fantastic, clean, and simple Christmas card that’s definitely unique and one-of-a-kind.

Stay warm and have a great day today. Thank you so much for stopping by and God bless.
