Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a vintage Free Skate card.
I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with this bundle and haven’t even gotten around to designing with the delicate detail die for the ice skate in its entirety. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.
This is a 5 x 5 Crumb Cake card base and as you can see, the skates are rather large in size and are great for larger cards, scrapbook pages, tags, and other 3D projects. Soft Suede is used for a mat with the image panel in Very Vanilla. Come Sail Away DSP was adhered to the lower half of the Very Vanilla CS. I’m a huge fan of newsprint and the sentiment was bold enough to stand on its own against the print. The Very Vanilla image panel was stamped with Winter Woods on the left for the trees and Very Versailles on the right for additional newsprint, both in stamped off Crumb Cake ink. The edges of the skates and Very Vanilla CS were inked with Soft Suede. The measurements are below for you. A blade was used to distress the edges of the mat and image panel, lightly adhered together, taken to the sewing machine with a straight stitch, then adhered to the card base.
The ice skates were die-cut from Very Vanilla CS and inked with sponge daubers. Smoky Slate was used to dirty up the ice skates with Soft Suede on the heels and the boot with Crumb Cake.
To lace up the skates, I die-cut the delicate detail part of the boot that has fabulous stitching on it and hand-cut out the part that covers the threads, adhered it to the top, punched holes, ran Linen Thread up and down the boot, bowed up at the top, and then applied Shimmery Crystal Effects with Ice Stampin’ Glitter. The blades were die-cut from Silver Glimmer Paper. The mystery holly berry is current, but I can’t remember where it’s from, which is die-cut from Real Red Glimmer Paper and Noble Peacock Old Olive Foil Sheet.
