Under My Umbrella Masking + Stencil Techniques

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for several techniques used on this Under My Umbrella card of masking, stenciling, and more.

I used a lot of techniques with our products on this card. There’s stamping, coloring, masking, punching, and stenciling with a unique cut. I took 1/2″ off the left front panel and adhered Neutrals 6×6 DSP in Gray Granite to the inside measuring 1/2″.

An image from Waterfront was used as a “puddle.” The clouds are stenciled in from Pattern Party Decorative Masks with Gray Granite ink and a Sponge Dauber. The raindrop image was stamped off once in Balmy Blue. The galoshes are colored in with the Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack. The top and bottom of the boots were filled in with a Gray Granite Stampin’ Write Marker from the Neutrals set and then fussy cut.

The umbrella is colored in on the left and right side with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack. I wanted to break up the umbrella, so I used the polka dot stencil from Basic Pattern Decorative Masks to Sponge Dauber in Real Red ink. It is critical to mask off the Balmy Blue panels from the stenciling. Post-It Notes or purple tape will work fine if you do not have masking tape.
