Cindy B Designs Challenges are Back + Power Poppy Stamps + Video!

CBDChallengeBlinkie

Well hello there my friends and a very happy Saturday (now Sunday) to you! My subject line is pretty exciting! I've decided to start up my monthly challenge series again! They are the first Saturday of every month and there's always a wonderful prize involved. Myself and my manufacturers, are always extremely generous with the prizes that I am able to offer you. My challenges were very popular in the past and I hope to gain that momentum again. It's been about 5 years and I've been blessed enough to have some of my followers ask for me to start them up again. You ladies (and gents) sure to know how to make me feel honored! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you. I also can't wait to see your submissions. That's the best part for me. I also have generous sponsors who always send me blessings in a box, as I like to call it.

I promise tomorrow that I will get my blog updated to reflect the new Stampin' Up! catalog and a few other surprises up my sleeve that you will definitely want to read about. Next week, I will be showcasing a brand new card or project daily from the new catalog. One of them will definitely be Pam Staples of Sunny Girl Scraps and our fearless leader at the Paper Craft Crew, an awesome and oh so cool card that she made that I must CASE. Pam has a retreat coming up in South Carolina shortly, so please read her blog for the details. I promise you it will be a great time! Tomorrow I will also be posting my Mid-Week Inspiration at the Paper Craft Crew too! As we aim to be your one-stop inspiration for everything Stampin' Up!, we are expanding to offer you our own Resource Section specifically for Stampin' Up! I know that there's resource information all over the internet and I've seen it, but we're doing it differently and Cindy-style, so you know it will be fun! We are also welcoming a new design team member, Rick D. Adkins. Check him out too. He's definitely funny!

I was hanging out at the Power Poppy Blog, specifically this blog post, where a long-time friend of mine, Christine Okken, demonstrated several fabulous out-of-the-box techniques and no white paper! I was loved them all, but the monochromatic card of Copic coloring onto colored card stock really caught my eye. Completely inspired by Christine, I did a video on coloring my own monochromatic card using the Peonies & Tulips stamp set by Power Poppy. I've been a very longtime admirer, fan and friend of the owner and illustrator of Power Poppy, Marcella Hawley, and her work is crazy amazing. She hand draws every single image and sentiment in her line of stamps. I'm also entering this card into their Power & Spark Challenge.

This weekend, they are also having a 10% sale off on all of their products, so take advantage of the great deals while you can. Everybody rotates through stamps, but Marcella's illustrations, I never have. Every single image is a timeless classic that is true art illustrated with her love and passion. She has a wonderful design team that I've had the honor of working with before and they are all incredibly talented. Go check out the Power Poppy Store and blog. Talk about some serious eye candy that will have any color medium screaming – it's at Power Poppy. Their blog has cutting edge, on-trend and lovely techniques. They have a few challenges a month, so go and check it out, enter a card and you just might win a free stamp set!

As mentioned above, today I have a video of the card that I did inspired by Christine Okken. I'm getting better at this video stuff. I sped up the coloring process and I also recognized the need to learn how to do voice-overs. So I moved my voice after I colored the image to when I was coloring the image, but you get it 🙂 I'm getting there. Considering how much work went into my 5 x 5 card, 18 minutes is not bad at all.

I've never used my Copic markers on colored card stock before but the results are amazing! It was a lot of fun and I will definitely be using this technique more in the future. For our first challenge back in the ballgame, it's an easy and fun one that is listed below. Since I am just starting them up again, be sure to check out my blog and on the right sidebar towards the end, please grab my blinkie. I'm always on prize patrol for my followers! Below is the challenge, the prize, the video and a couple of pictures of my cards.

I went "old school" on this card with tulle and my choice of the flower cluster, which totally makes the card. I rarely, rarely make 5 x 5 cards, but with the size of my image and choice of die-cuts, I went for it. This cards rocks the fem for sure.

The video has a tremendous amount of ideas and resources that you can use; one of them being Sandy Allnock's Hex Chart for Copic coloring that's not the usual 3 colors and that's what I ran with. You can purchase Sandy's Hex Chart for only $5.99, that is SO PERFECT!) and I have to tell you that I love it. You get 2 downloads; one of a colored in Copic marker chart and the other is blank so that you can color it in yourself.

My Favorite Things Stamps also has an incredible and printable Resource Section that you must print out and put in your craft notebook for easy reference. Their Die-Namics are literally for DIE FOR! Another MUST for your craft room….and yes, I will do a video tour of my craft room once it's completely organized and I hope that you're enjoying the sneak peeks on my Instagram page.

Are you ready for the first challenge?! It's very easy and fun!

Thank you so very much for stopping by to visit me! I hope that you have a wonderful day! Below is my video and card. Enjoy!

  1. Love your monochromatic tulips Cindy!!  The pinks are just super lovely! Your framing and embossed background really make them pop too!

  2. I have just added this challenge onto my facebook time line…I had over 56 comments on this card and am surprised no one entered…
